Solana Releases Premium Android Phone ‘Saga’

Digital technology usage has exploded over the last 10-15 years, helping the introduction of several gadgets. Hand-held telephones or Mobile emerged as the most preferred mode of communication be it for the use of person-to-person interaction or watching video, preparing notes, the list of usefulness is ever evolving.

As per industry estimate, the global mobile market stands at a whopping $469 billion in 2022 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 7.50%, thanks to technological advancements, 5G network expansion, and increasing Internet of Things demand. The market is highly competitive, dominated by major companies such as Samsung, Huawei, Apple, and Xiaomi.

With changing environment and tremendous potential, the consumers are demanding further technological advancement. The emergence of Blockchain technology is one such development and it is rapidly transcending beyond traditional platforms, marking its imprint on mobile platforms …for instance.

Solana Mobile, a Solana Labs company, released Saga, a premium Android phone designed for web3 enthusiasts on 13th April 2023… The device includes the Solana Mobile Stack, a set of tools that allow users to engage with Solana dApps, trade tokens, mint NFTs, and play on-chain games.

The Android-based Solana Saga witnessed a price reduction from its iPhone-like starting price of $1,000 down to $599.

Solana Saga phone initially faced slow sales, reducing its price to $599 in August., but the situation took a turn as traders spotted an arbitrage opportunity.

A Solana Saga phone appears to have sold for as much as $5,000 on eBay — more than eight times its retail cost — after a frenzy to pick up a free memecoin airdrop caused the devices to sell out on the official website for the first time.
