Siemens To Invest €1 bn In Industrial Metaverse Hub
Siemens has announced plans to invest almost $1 billion in Germany, including $500 million to build a new Technology Campus in Erlangen that will integrate production with research and development. The center will concentrate on fostering an ecosystem of collaborators from the commercial and scientific communities, as well as on high-tech manufacturing that is sustainable and future-focused.
The €1 billion investment is a portion of a €2 billion worldwide investment plan that was launched last month and is centered on establishing new production facilities, innovation hubs, and educational facilities. This also includes a €200 million high-tech manufacturing outside of Germany in Singapore and a motion control research and development center in China. Additionally, Siemens is spending about €160 million on a new corporate headquarters in Spain.
The company aims to establish Erlangen as a global research and development hub and technology center for the industrial metaverse. This will accelerate growth, drive innovation, and increase resilience. The company is focusing on digital production, industrial 3D printing, and power electronics to strengthen its presence in Erlangen.
