Russia Hosts Brics Talks Over Cross-Border Use Of CBDCs
According to Russian official media, the Bank of Russia is having discussions about the cross-border use of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) with representatives from the Brics economic bloc and other friendly nations.
On January 30, Elvira Nabiullina, the bank’s governor, made the statement on state-run RIA Novosti. According to her, the Bank of Russia is against using bitcoins for local payments. She did, however, say that she was in favour of using CBDCs and cryptocurrencies for international cross-border payments.
