Oman Launches $350 mn Crypto Mining Center
The second mining plant to operate in the country in the last 10 months is now operational in the Sultanate of Oman.
In the Salalah Free Zone, a special economic zone in the nation with low business taxes, a data hosting and cryptocurrency mining facility has been established. The center will be managed by a local business called Exahertz and Moonwalk Systems, a blockchain startup with its headquarters in Dubai.
The 135 million Omani rials construction of a mining center will use Bitmain Technologies’ latest hardware, with plans to set up 15,000 machines by October 2023. The facility is part of a plan to accelerate Oman’s economy’s digitalization, which relies on oil exports. The center is part of a plan to accelerate the digitalization of Oman’s economy. In 2022, electricity prices for business operators in Oman were $0.166 per kilowatt hour.
