Crypto exchange OKX has received a Payment Institution license in Malta. This allows the company to offer stablecoin-related payment services across the European Union under new regulations.
Digital currencies that are tied to physical currencies, such as the US dollar, are known as stablecoins. They are frequently used for payments since they are more reliable than other cryptocurrencies.
Companies that handle stablecoin payments are required to obtain the appropriate authorisation under new European regulations. OKX can carry on conducting lawful business in Europe by obtaining this licence.
Products like the OKX Card and OKX Pay, which the business just introduced, make it easier for customers to spend stablecoins in daily life. To increase cryptocurrency payments, it has also teamed up with Mastercard.
Exchanges that adopt regulations early may win the trust of institutions and users as Europe enacts more transparent crypto laws. According to OKX, this licence improves its standing in the European market.
