Move To Earn- A Game Where You Run & Earn

By Shikha Singh

For gamers or atletes..or anyone who just wants to earn while you walk Move to earn games are justttttt right for you….

Move-to-earn (M2E) apps have developed as an offshoot of the play-to-earn (P2E) model that has taken off in gaming – rather than earning financial incentives for gameplay, users earn rewards for engaging in physical activity.

The concept of incentivizing people to engage in physical exercise as part of a healthier lifestyle is not new. Companies and health insurance providers have for many years rewarded employees and customers with vouchers, discounts, and other rewards for tracking regular participation in sports and fitness activities.

M2E apps, however, leverage blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies to gamify the process and introduce new functionalities.

Move-to-earn (M2E) is a concept where users earn rewards for physical activity, such as walking, jogging, or sports. M2E apps function as fitness trackers, allowing users to earn rewards in the form of cryptocurrencies or unique digital assets. These rewards can be used to buy or upgrade NFTs, helping users progress to higher membership tiers. M2E combines blockchain, cryptocurrency, NFTs, decentralized finance, GPS, and gaming technologies to create new applications.

There is a wide variety of move-to-earn games, with some of their cryptocurrencies having reached market capitalizations of tens of millions of dollars.

Some of the popular M2E game examples include:

STEPN:

STEPN, the first M2E to gain significant traction in 2022, was first developed on the Solana blockchain before joining the Binance BNB Chain. In order to get started and receive its Green Metaverse Token (GMT) and Green Satoshi Token (GST) for their activity, users purchase NFT sneakers from its marketplace.

Sweat Economy:

Launched in 2016, Sweatcoin is a virtual token that isn’t crypto and is used to compensate app users for engaging in physical activity. However, users can now switch from Sweatcoin to the SWEAT cryptocurrency token. Users use the app to track their steps and calculate their SWEAT.

Walken:

CAThletes are NFT avatars that players may own, enhance using GEM in-game tokens, and compete to win WLKN tokens in this walking and running app with a cat theme. Users can compete more with their CAThletes in war games the more they walk.

Step App:

Users of the Step App can earn rewards for running, walking, conversing, competing with other users, and exploring the actual world or the app’s metaverse. Whereas the KCAL in-app token purchases SNEAK NFTs and enables users to mine, earn, and stake more rewards, the FITFI token of Step App is utilized for governance.
