The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has become the first major global exchange to adopt blockchain infrastructure, launching its Digital Markets Infrastructure (DMI) platform for private funds. Developed with Microsoft and running on Azure, the platform supports the full lifecycle of tokenized assets, from issuance to post-trade settlement, while ensuring interoperability with traditional financial systems.
Private funds are the first asset class to launch on DMI, with broader expansion already planned. Workspace integration will allow general partners to showcase private funds to professional investors directly. MembersCap and London-based Archax, a Financial Conduct Authority-regulated exchange, were the first clients onboarded. MembersCap executed the platform’s debut transaction, with Archax acting as nominee for the Cardano Foundation.
LSEG says DMI reflects its ambition to support clients across the “full funding continuum.” Analysts view the launch as a milestone that positions the exchange group as a leader in merging traditional markets with blockchain innovation.
