Grand Theft Enters Web3 Via Mobile Gaming Arm
Take-Two Interactive, the same firm that controls Rockstar Games, the developer of wildly popular video game franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and NBA 2K, is the owner of mobile gaming behemoth Zynga. With a new franchise, Zynga is now debuting on the Web 3.
Zynga, best known for its FarmVille games, has introduced Sugartown and established an affiliate studio named Zynga Web3. It’s a multi-platform environment that resembles a Web3 gaming platform more than a specific game. The adorable cartoon creatures in the teaser video hint that there might be more in the works than just video games.
I won’t be shocked to see a Sugartown-themed animation because it appears to be a clip from a recent Netflix series.
The only thing that is definite at this time, however, is that Sugartown will release an NFT collection named Oras and that players will be expected to take part in subsequent games that take place in the world. According to ZW3, the franchise is collaborating with several communities to distribute allowlists for the NFTs.
