Gate has officially unveiled Gate Layer, a layer 2 scaling solution aimed at supporting high-performance blockchain transactions.
Built on the Optimism Stack and secured by GateChain, the new network is fully EVM-compatible, enabling developers to migrate applications seamlessly and users to interact with decentralized apps through familiar tools like MetaMask.
Gate claims the network can process 5,700 transactions per second with one-second block times, while dramatically cutting costs: one million transfers on Gate Layer would cost under $30, compared with about $700 on Base and over $1,000 on Solana.
The launch also coincides with an updated tokenomics model for GateToken, reinforcing the exchange’s strategy to expand beyond trading into a broader web3 ecosystem.
Cross-chain functionality is supported through integration with LayerZero, allowing direct transfers across Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain, and Solana. By combining speed, affordability, and interoperability, Gate Layer is designed to compete with the most advanced scaling solutions in the industry.
