GameStop Exits NFT Space After Shutting Down Marketplace

GameStop has decided to exit the NFT business, closing its NFT marketplace about a year and a half after it launched.

The publicly traded video game retailer cited regulatory uncertainty in the cryptocurrency space as the reason for shutting down its platform, which supported gaming NFTs and other collectibles via Ethereum scaling networks Immutable X and Loopring.

According to an announcement on the marketplace’s website, the platform will close on February 2.

Despite the closure, NFTs minted on blockchains will remain accessible and can be purchased and sold on other marketplaces.

This move comes four months after GameStop announced the discontinuation of its NFT wallet, citing regulatory uncertainty.
