Facebook Parent Company Meta Exploring dApps
Meta Platforms (META), Facebook’s parent company, is developing a decentralised text-based app.
According to the report, which cited a Meta spokesperson, the app will be a standalone product for sharing text updates. MoneyControl, an Indian business news website, broke the story first.
The app, codenamed P92, is still being worked on. It will allow users to log in using their Instagram credentials, as Meta also owns the photo-sharing social-media site. According to the report, it will support the ActivityPub protocol, which is also supported by Mastodon, a decentralised social-media platform that gained traction after billionaire Elon Musk purchased Twitter.
