In honor of its upcoming 10th anniversary, Ethereum has introduced “The Ethereum Torch,” a ceremonial NFT symbolizing the values and individuals that shaped the ecosystem since its 2015 launch.
The initiative, announced by the Ethereum Foundation on July 21, features a unique NFT passed between wallets daily for ten days. Joseph Lubin, Ethereum co-founder and ConsenSys founder, was the first torchbearer.
A rotating group of influential community members will carry the NFT each day in a curated procession that reflects Ethereum’s global and collaborative spirit.
On July 30, the digital torch will be permanently burned, representing the close of Ethereum’s first decade and the dawn of its next chapter. In its place, a new commemorative NFT will be released and available for anyone to mint freely.
This initiative not only celebrates Ethereum’s history but also reinforces its values of decentralization, inclusivity, and open participation within the global blockchain community.
