Ethereum developers have announced the upcoming shutdown of Holešky, the network’s largest testnet, following the Fusaka upgrade later this September. The Ethereum Foundation confirmed that Holešky will be retired two weeks after Fusaka is finalized, marking the end of support from clients, testing, and infrastructure teams.
Launched in September 2023, Holešky played a key role in trialing staking infrastructure and validator operations. It also enabled critical upgrades, including Dencun and the more recent Pectra update. With Fusaka set for a November mainnet release, developers will now transition testing activities to a new network, dubbed Hoodi.
The foundation said Holešky has “served its purpose,” underscoring Ethereum’s evolving focus. While decentralization and scalability remain top priorities, the project is also placing new emphasis on user experience as a high-impact goal over the next 6–12 months.
The migration reflects Ethereum’s ongoing effort to refine every layer of its ecosystem ahead of major protocol upgrades.
