ETH Staked By Validators Surges To New Peak
To secure the L1 Chain, Ethereum validators have deposited $52.3 billion into the ETH2.0 contract. This is the highest value it has ever reached, according to on-chain data provider IntoTheBlock.
Validators on the Ethereum PoS network must deposit 32 ETH into the ETH 2.0 contract in order to become validators. According to Glassnode data, the total number of ETH deposited into this contract by validators running the network at the time of writing was 27.05 million ETH.
According to Glassnode data, the missed block count reached an all-time high of 658 on April 13. This could be because some validators intentionally took their nodes offline during the Shanghai upgrade and a day after it for a proper assessment of the impact of the upgrade.
The missed block count has dropped by 94% since April, with only 42 missed blocks recorded on July 21st. To ensure optimal PoS network performance, high participation by validators is crucial. Glassnode states that a high participation rate indicates reliable node uptime, fewer missed blocks, and superior block space efficiency. On May 12th, validator participation dropped to 96%, but has since regained its position at 99%, indicating that almost all network validators actively participate in block production.
