Coinbase will officially launch its planned prediction markets and tokenized stocks on December 17, according to Bloomberg. The announcement is expected at the exchange’s upcoming showcase event, where Coinbase will present tokenized equities developed entirely in-house—an approach that sets it apart from competitors dependent on outside partners.
Although Coinbase leadership has hinted at expanding into these sectors for months, this is the first confirmation of a launch date. Screenshots circulating on social media show early UI designs for both prediction markets and digital stock trading. A Coinbase spokesperson did not comment on specifics but encouraged users to “tune in to our Dec. 17 livestream.”
The move follows Coinbase’s July statement outlining ambitions to expand into tokenized stock trading and blockchain-backed prediction markets. It also aligns with the exchange’s settlement partnerships, including Kalshi’s use of Coinbase Custody for USDC transactions.
The timing coincides with a surge in tokenized equity trading, with rwa.xyz reporting a 32% jump in monthly volumes to $1.45 billion.
