Bitget Leverages Messi Sponsorship In Battle For LatAm
Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget is expanding its presence in Latin America, aiming to increase its local team and focus on beginner-friendly products.
Currently ranked as the 14th largest globally, Bitget is seeking new markets to gain a larger share of the cryptocurrency market.
The region is dominated by major players like Binance and Bitso. Bitget’s Copy Trading tool offers an alternative for less active traders, allowing them to mimic the positions and returns of seasoned professionals. The platform’s user experience gives it a competitive edge.
Bitget and Binance are also dueling over celebrity sponsorships, with Bitget partnering with Cristiano Ronaldo’s longtime rival Lionel Messi in October.
Despite Messi being a brand ambassador for a year and a half, Bitget is now leveraging the region’s love for football to attract local traders.
However, both exchanges face increasing regulation in Latin America, particularly in Brazil, the region’s largest crypto economy.
Brazil’s central bank is drafting new rules around licensing, asset segregation, and consumer protection after the collapse of FTX in the US.
