BAYC & BAPE Partners To Redefine Virtual Fashion
By Vishakha Thakur
Metaverse is set to alter our perception of fashion…… as our digital avatar can wear any garment, regardless of type, design, or fabric in the virtual world. Yes, you may wear a Manish Malhotra lehenga or Kim Kardashian’s shapewear apparel brand Skims in the metaverse.
Literally speaking, the Metaverse can open up a plethora of opportunities, and brands are betting big on it. Board Ape Yacht Club has recently announced a collaboration with the iconic streetwear brand, BAPE, to redefine fashion, while Gucci has also launched the Milan Fashion Show Collection in Metaverse.
So, I have a lot more amazing metaverse-related updates for you all.
BAPE, the iconic streetwear brand, has announced a cooperation with Board Ape Yacht Club. This collaboration intends to push the frontiers of the metaverse and streetwear fashion by releasing a limited-edition tangible collection. BAYC is making its tangible appearance for the first time with an exclusive collection due to launch at the ApeFest event in Hong Kong.
Well, GUCCI, too, is preparing to reinvent virtual fashion. Gucci has made its runway debut at Milan Fashion Week, showing the Ancora collection. This historic event did not remain in the physical world as Gucci has moved into the metaverse, creating a digital version of the fashion show that is available across many platforms.
And now, let’s listen in to what Mr. Suresh Satyanarayanan has to say about the potential of metaverse in different sectors.
Well, there are a variety of brands that have ventured into the metaverse. Surprisingly, jewellery showrooms can also be found in the metaverse. Senco Gold & Diamonds, based in Kolkata, has created Sencoverse, India’s “first virtual jewellery showroom” in the metaverse.
And now, I have another interesting update for you all from the education sector.
Students at King Abdulaziz University’s College of Architecture and Planning, a public research university in Saudi Arabia, recently unveiled their latest project, “Building in the Metaverse,” which will allow the faculty as well as the students in the education field to engage and interact with the content.
Interesting…isn’t it?
Well, without doubt, metaverse will alter several industries, including banking. Allied, one of Pakistan’s biggest private banks, has teamed with R&D firm Synapsify Systems and UAE-based Web3 fintech Fasset to supplement digital banking with metaverse and Web 3.0 projects.
