Assam Gets Northeast’s 1st AI Teacher ‘Iris’, Students Interact In Awe
Assam and northeast India’s first artificially intelligent (AI) teacher, ‘Iris’, has been developed in collaboration with Makerlabs Edu-tech under the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) project initiated by NITI Aayog.
The robot, dressed in traditional ‘Mekhela Chador’ and jewellery, promptly answered all questions of students at a private school in Guwahati.
The teacher said that the humanoid provided answers in no time and with examples and references. The students were inquisitive and eagerly engaged in various activities of the robot.
The robot also had the ability to perform gestures like handshakes, making the learning process both fun and engaging. The school teacher said that the children were very excited because the AI teacher had answers to their questions.
The introduction of ‘Iris’ marks a significant milestone in enhancing the learning experience and catering to the diverse learning styles of students. The private school looks forward to leveraging the capabilities of the robot to personalize learning and make education more engaging for students in the northeast region.
