Apple To Hire More People In UK To Work On AI
As the creator of the iPhones seeks to increase its efforts in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), Apple CEO Tim Cook has revealed plans to hire more staff in the UK.
Cook stated that the company is hiring in the area and expects investment to increase. AI is a key factor in Apple’s products, including Fall Detection on the Apple Watch, Crash Detection, Afib detection, ECG, and predictive typing on iPhone. Cook also mentioned that they are researching more on the development of generative AI. Culture Secretary Michelle Donelan praised Apple’s decision as a vote of confidence in the UK’s tech sector, highlighting its global credentials as an AI and technology superpower.
Apple also said that it now directly supports more than 550,000 jobs in the UK and has a new office in Cambridge where several hundred employees are engaged in various AI, machine learning, and other projects, according to Standard.co.uk.
