U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a new executive order aimed at strengthening America’s artificial intelligence capabilities while addressing cybersecurity risks posed by advanced AI systems.
The order directs federal agencies to work with private-sector companies to establish an AI cybersecurity clearinghouse. The initiative will focus on identifying vulnerabilities, coordinating security responses, and developing protective measures for critical infrastructure and government systems.
National security agencies have also been instructed to prioritize protecting sensitive government networks as AI technologies become increasingly sophisticated.
The move comes amid growing concerns that advanced AI models could potentially be exploited for cyberattacks or security breaches. Industry leaders have repeatedly called for stronger safeguards as artificial intelligence becomes more powerful and widely adopted.
The executive order comes at an important time for the AI industry. Both Anthropic and OpenAI are reportedly considering going public in the U.S., and some analysts think their valuations could become very high.
Anthropic has confidentially submitted a draft S-1 registration statement to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Pending completion of SEC review, this gives us the option to pursue an initial public offering.

The framework also introduces a process for identifying highly advanced AI models, referred to as “covered frontier models.” Developers of such systems may be asked to cooperate with federal authorities and provide access for security evaluations.
The administration says it wants to encourage innovation while also ensuring that new technologies do not pose serious risks. As investment in AI grows, this executive order shows Washington plans to take a more active role in guiding the industry’s future.
