The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has charged three trading platforms and four investment clubs for allegedly defrauding U.S. retail investors of roughly $14 million. The regulator claims the entities operated a coordinated “investment confidence scam” through social media and messaging apps.
According to the SEC, the firms promoted themselves as legitimate investment groups while using deceptive tactics to lure victims, marking another enforcement action targeting organized online financial fraud schemes.
