AI, ChatGPT Selling Cars In Metaverse
Car shopping from the comfort of your own home may soon become possible, thanks to immersive, interactive digital showrooms powered in part by ChatGPT, the ground-breaking generative AI platform.
Fiat and Kia both hope that their newly introduced “metaverse” dealerships will revolutionise the car-buying experience. The two automakers are also among the first to identify practical business applications for ChatGPT.
The Fiat Metaverse Store, which debuted at CES in January, was created in collaboration with Microsoft and the software firm Touchcast. Customers do not need a VR headset, an avatar, or specialised hardware to access the immersive store. It’s all integrated into Microsoft Teams.
They can interact virtually with a human or artificial “Fiat Genius,” who can answer questions about Fiat vehicles in real time using ChatGPT.
Customers can look over a vehicle’s features, ask the Fiat Genius questions, and possibly even complete their purchase from home.
“A human salesperson would meet you in a dealership and you’d ask them a question and they’d say, ‘Let me show you,’ and they’d walk over and they’d open the door,” Touchcast CEO Edo Segal tells Axios.
Such interactions, he added, will eventually be available inside cars themselves to answer questions after purchase.
The Fiat Metaverse store is currently only available in Italy, but it will soon be available in other countries, including the United States. Kia Germany has also unveiled a Metaverse store that runs on Engage, a business metaverse platform.
Customers can access the space via mobile device or computer, but a VR headset provides the best experience. Customers can interact with the vehicles, check out the service bays, and get their questions answered by clicking on links that take them to Kia’s website using digital avatars.
