Yevgeny Prigozhin: A Crypto Whale!
Yevgeny Prigozhin, the proprietor of the Wagner private military company (PMC), passed very unexpectedly, igniting speculation that he held one of the most important Bitcoin (BTC) accounts. We investigate Prigozhin’s organization’s potential ties to the cryptocurrency scene.
The evening of August 23, media sources and Telegram channels reported on a plane crash in the Tver area. According to reports, the aircraft was transporting Dmitry Utkin, the commander, and Wagner’s owner Yevgeny Prigozhin. The 10 passengers on board were all killed in the collision.
Authorities are investigating the plane crash involving Yevgeny Prigozhin, who is believed to have controlled a substantial cryptocurrency wallet. The wallet is believed to hold around 100,000 Bitcoin, valued at $2.6 billion. 70% of the stash is in cold wallets, while the rest is spread between Binance and BTC-W. If Prigozhin held 100,000 coins, he would rank among the top five largest Bitcoin holders.
