According to a report in The Times Of India (TOI), the Centre has said that it is considering a regulatory framework for internet platforms like ChatGPT that use artificial intelligence (AI).

The laws are anticipated to address a variety of issues, including copyright concerns and the algorithm’s bias towards displaying particular results. According to the study, other nations with similar policies may serve as inspiration for the regulations.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the minister of communications and information technology, said that the government is looking at efforts that other nations are taking to regulate the AI area given the growing popularity and usage of AI-based platforms. To formalise a framework, the administration may hold conversations with foreign organisations, he noted.

Given the circumstances, Vaishnaw told the publication that it is quite likely that ideas from other nations will be shared and used to design the laws.

In answer to questions about ‘Generative AI’ technologies that may produce human-like responses in a matter of seconds, the minister stated that there are issues with intellectual property rights, copyright, and algorithm bias. There are numerous worries. This subject is very broad.
