Vitalik Buterin presented Ethereum’s forward roadmap at the Japan Developer Conference, stressing scalability, privacy, and long-term security. To scale Layer 1 without harming decentralization, Ethereum plans to raise the Gas limit and integrate tools like ZK-EVMs. A major goal is to unify the network’s many Layer 2s into a seamless user experience. This includes trustless asset transfers, faster block finality using protocols such as 3SF, and efficiency upgrades with erasure coding.
Privacy was a central theme. Ethereum aims to safeguard both “write privacy” for transactions and “read privacy” for user queries. Zero-knowledge proofs, anonymous pools, and mix networks will help protect user identities and activity. Buterin also highlighted Ethereum Foundation’s new “dAI Team,” tasked with building an AI-driven economy on Ethereum. Their mission is to create a secure, censorship-resistant platform for decentralized AI agents. Analysts say the roadmap positions Ethereum not just as a blockchain for finance but as a settlement layer for the AI economy of the future.
