With a new platform built for AI-driven transactions, payments behemoth Visa is venturing into the future of business.
The solution, known as Intelligent Commerce Connect, enables AI agents to peruse, choose, and pay for products on users’ behalf. To put it simply, AI may soon shop for you, of course, within the boundaries set by you!
The platform is compatible with both Visa and non-Visa cards and offers secure payments, tokenisation and authentication. A wider rollout is scheduled for later this year, but it is presently being tested with a few partners.
Visa now faces direct competition from blockchain networks that are investigating AI-powered payments, such as Ethereum and Solana.
The concept of “agentic commerce,” in which software agents behave autonomously but according to predetermined guidelines, is becoming more popular.
Spending caps are set by users, and AI takes care of the rest.
This could change online payments and shopping, but it’s still in its infancy. The distinction between fintech, artificial intelligence, and cryptocurrency is getting hazier.
