A crypto trader has lost nearly $50 million in USDT after falling victim to an address poisoning attack, according to blockchain analysts. The victim mistakenly sent 49,999,950 USDT to a scammer-controlled address designed to closely resemble their own wallet.
The attacker exploited a common habit of copying addresses from transaction history by generating a spoofed address with matching characters at the beginning and end. The incident occurred shortly after the trader withdrew funds from Binance. In an attempt to recover the assets, the victim has offered a $1 million bounty to anyone who helps return the stolen funds.
