Total Bitcoin Holders Reach A Staggering 48.5 mn
The largest cryptocurrency by market cap, Bitcoin (BTC), has drawn interest from cryptocurrency enthusiasts, with whales acquiring BTC in the ever-volatile world of digital assets.
In a recent tweet, the cryptocurrency expert Ali Martinez claimed that the total number of Bitcoins in circulation now stands at an astounding 48.5 million, which is more than Spain’s whole population of 47.5 million.
Whales, or wealthy Bitcoin investors, have been seen boosting their holdings despite the adverse trend in the price of the cryptocurrency, showing their upbeat outlook on the market.
According to information provided by the cryptocurrency analytics firm IntoTheBlock, approximately $1.5 billion in new Bitcoin holdings were added in the past two weeks of August by investors who control at least 0.1% of the total supply.
The extraordinary whale activity that brought the total number of Bitcoin holders to surpass 48 million for the first time in history was reported by IntoTheBlock on September 3 in a Twitter update.
What is more astonishing is the growth of cryptocurrencies after the price of Bitcoin fell to a two-month low, around $26,000.
The recent historic victory of Grayscale Investments over the SEC had a significant role in the investors’ upbeat outlook for Bitcoin.
