Sri Lanka Gets First NFT On Cardano Blockchain

Coin Ceylon, a cryptocurrency firm based in Sri Lanka, has launched Sri Lanka’s first NFT to be officially supported on the Cardano blockchain. Over 1,000 of the over 6,000 NFT items have already been’minted,’ and international demand remains high. The NFT aims to digitise and preserve the ‘Yaka’ mask culture of Sri Lanka.

Coin Ceylon has taken it upon itself to educate the Crypto Community about the rich historical underpinnings of the entire ‘Yaka’ culture.

The company has chosen to mint the NFT as part of its economic model, with a focus on sustainability for the creators, the environment, and the investing community.

Proceeds from token minting will be reinvested in social ventures such as artist welfare schemes, cultural preservation, and livelihood enhancement. The Cardano blockchain is one of the more energy-efficient blockchain technologies.
