Philippines Faces BTC Payment Challenges
As numerous developments in the space demonstrate how far the Bitcoin community has gone, an executive from a BTC payment provider discussed how adoption may still be in its early stages in other parts of the world.
Cointelegraph reporter Joseph Hall spoke with Ethan Rose, the founder of Pouch, a wallet service in the Philippines that supports the Bitcoin Lightning Network, at the BTC Prague event. The pair discussed the country’s adoption rate and how the Pouch team is attempting to bring Bitcoin to retailers on the island of Boracay, a popular tourist destination in the country.
According to Rose, their team has already onboarded approximately 250 enterprises on the island and 400 businesses throughout the country. Their team is working to promote Bitcoin adoption in the country by offering merchants another way to attract customers. Apart from this, the executive also shared that there are still some difficulties in introducing Bitcoin to people.
