Pakistan Mulls Moving Towards Digital Currency: Muhammad Aurangzeb
Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, has expressed interest in the country’s transition to digital currency. He stated that the government is providing cash to poor women, who often face theft from male family members.
Aurangzeb also highlighted the positive impact of government initiatives on tax collection and the economy, stating that despite challenges, the economy is on an upward trajectory.
He also noted that the State Bank’s reserves have risen from $3.4 billion to $8 billion, indicating that no plan B can be imagined apart from the IMF. The new staff-level agreement is expected in June or July.
