Nokia, TPG, MediaTek Unveil 5G Powered Metaverse
Through a live 360-degree video broadcast, Nokia, TPG Telecom, and MediaTek have provided an immersive look into the Metaverse’s future.
With the help of Nokia’s CA technology, 5G uplink speeds are optimised, allowing for the real-time transmission of excellent 360-degree video. Nokia’s AirScale lineup, which includes baseband, MIMO, and the ReefShark chipset, was used in the live demonstration.
The MediaTek M80 5G modem, which is a component of MediaTek’s 5G mobile platform, attained a remarkable peak uplink throughput of 159 Mbps. Nokia’s Head of Trend and Innovation Scouting, Leslie Shannon, highlighted the importance of 360-degree video livestreaming via 5G in Industrial Metaverse scenarios, allowing workers to engage in remote operations, such as controlling robots in hazardous locations, using virtual reality headsets.
