Nigeria And Turkey Biggest Adopters Of Crypto In 2024
As of February 2024, Nigeria and Turkey are the leading countries in crypto adoption and ownership, with 47% each.
Thailand follows closely behind with 43% of the population holding crypto tokens. Vietnam and the UAE follow in fourth place (39%), followed by Indonesia, Brazil, Argentina, Malaysia, India, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, the Philippines, Switzerland, and Colombia.
The United States is 20th with 18%, followed by South Korea (17%), Australia 16%, and the United Kingdom (14%).
Japan has the lowest share of respondents at just 6%. Africa has the fewest countries with significant crypto adoption but also has one of the highest shares.
South America has shown higher rates of adoption compared to other continents. Nigerians and Turks use cryptocurrencies to preserve purchasing power, diversify and manage risk, and find accessibility and inclusivity.
