The founder of the Cardano blockchain and Input Output Global, Charles Hoskinson, has recently revealed that the company’s much-awaited blockchain platform for privacy, Midnight, is all set to be launched at the end of March. The announcement was made by Hoskinson while delivering a keynote address at Consensus Hong Kong.
The blockchain platform, Midnight, is created as a partner chain of Cardano and aims to address one of the biggest problems of blockchain technology: balancing privacy and transparency. The platform utilizes zero-knowledge proofs to allow users to selectively disclose data, ensuring that users can maintain the privacy of their transactions while at the same time disclosing required information to auditors and regulators. According to Hoskinson, Midnight is like a “smart curtain” that allows users to choose the data that they wish to disclose.
In addition to the announcement of the platform’s launch at the end of March, Input Output Global also launched Midnight City Simulation, a simulation environment that utilizes AI agents to create unpredictable transaction scenarios. The simulation environment indicates that Midnight is ready to be used for enterprise and decentralized application development.
