Metaverse To Quench Thirst Of Parched Lands
By Vishakha Thakur
This is a story of a 44 year old social entrepreneur, Sivaan Yaari, from the small but significant country called Israel. Fifteen years ago, while on a tour of the jungles of Africa, Sivaan happened to see the brutal reality of the Africans that went beyond poverty.
When Sivaan saw the hapless Africans, owners of a landscape that gives the world 80% of its diamonds and 40% of gold, thirsting for just a few drops of drinking water, she got a shock of her life.
Sivaan knew water was as precious as the yellow metal but perhaps never realised it was worth a poor thirsty man’s weight in gold.
The reality of Africa–nearly 400 million Africans lack basic access to drinking water—just sapped the life out of her.
Access to drinking water, no doubt, is a problem across the globe. The Unicef has already declared that every year, over two billion people live in countries where water is scarce.
The stark reality of the essential liquid rattled Sivaan. At times, she lost her cool but finally found her purpose. In 2008, she founded Innovation Africa, a not-for-profit organisation, and since then ensured clean water to over 4 million people through 880 projects across 10 African countries, including Uganda, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia, South Africa.
Sivaan’s zest for social transformation got a phillip when she met up with Mic Mann, co-founder and CEO of Africa’s first metaverse, Africarare, and the two teamed up for a more modern and hi-tech solution to social evils such as water scarcity.
The evolution of metaverse will open up new horizons for brands, businesses and community as a whole and Africa is already alive to the possibilities of metaverse.
Luckily, India has produced people like Rajendra Singh who revived traditional techniques of storing water in the parched desert
Well, we certainly need more people like Sivaan & Singh in this world to maintain our symbiotic and synergetic connect with mother earth. Else, we would all end up leading up dry and parched lives.
