Massachusetts Ready For Landmark Senate Hearing
On July 5, the Massachusetts Senate announced the consolidation of numerous hearings on blockchain, digital assets, and digital privacy into a single assembly on July 13, underlining the state’s growing importance of these themes.
The ‘Advanced Information Technology, the Internet, and Cybersecurity Committee’ will discuss bills affecting the state’s digital technology, blockchain, and cryptocurrency approach. One proposed bill is a pilot program for Massachusetts Technology Collaborative to explore blockchain technology for securely storing and accessing real property records.
A bill establishing a special Commission on blockchain and cryptocurrency is under consideration in the combined session. The commission will study blockchain technology’s feasibility, impact on revenue, and government agency acceptance. It will also examine existing definitions, energy consumption regulation, and best practices for leveraging blockchain technology.
