Mahindra Hints At Buying Cars With Bitcoin
By Manoj Dharra
Anand Mahindra, the chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra, in Twitt hinted at a future where the crypto asset could come in handy to buy a car from the company. Mahindra was responding to a question raised by his follower where he was asked whether it is possible to buy a car using Bitcoin.
Mahindra’s response, thus suggests Bitcoin, the most expensive cryptocurrency to ever exist, could soon become a car payment option in India.
3.0TV when contacted to get company response, the company spokesperson refused to comment. The person neither denied nor confirmed the development.
Mahindra is India’s largest SUV maker that boasts a valuation of $18.3 billion, roughly amounting to Rs. 1,50,353 crore.
Interestingly, Anand Mahindra’s Tweet reminds of Elon Musk, who last year announced accepting Bitcoin as payment against Tesla cars which was short-lived.
Between March to May 2021, Tesla accepted Bitcoin as payment in the United States. However, Musk discontinued the coin due to climate change worries.
With the possibility of less carbon footprint, the adoption of digital currencies such as Bitcoin, Ether, others is likely to receive a boost.
