ITHF, Infosys To Launch Metaverse Museum

By Vishakha Thakur

Tennis, the world’s most popular individual racket sport, was originated in the 16th in France. Back then, the players would yell “tenez” upon starting a game, thus it got its name. Later, in the nineteenth century, it was further modified in England and appeared in its modern avatar – the lawn tennis.

Well, there is good news for all Tennis lovers too…

The International Tennis Hall of Fame and Infosys have joined hands to deliver tennis history, artefacts, and great stories to all fans across the world in order to keep all tennis lover connected and serving them historic events from this great sport.

Infosys, the global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting, and the United States-based International Tennis Hall of Fame, a non-profit organisation that preserves and promotes the history of tennis and celebrates its champions, are partnering together to build a fully interactive museum. The Hall of Fame honours Tennis superstars and traces the sport’s history. Infosys and Hall of Fame partnership is important for the growth of global tennis.

Infosys and the International Tennis Hall of Fame have begun a genuinely transformative effort to replicate the physical museum into a 3D digital world!

In the Hall of Fame’s collection, fans can find iconic objects from tennis history, such as an original pair of Stan Smith Adidas sneakers, a racquet used by Stefanie Graf during her Golden Slam in 1988, and a dress worn by American tennis player Serena Williams at the 2018 US Open.

Fans can watch larger-than-life hologram sculptures of Hall of Famers in the Metaverse and learn about the superstars through their career stats, trivia, and more. They can look through various Hall of Famers and artefacts to learn more and answer some questions to earn rewards in the ITHF virtual shop. Users can also build and personalise their digital avatars, as well as step foot on the famed Horseshoe Court and play a game of tennis.

Well, the new ITHF experience debuts only weeks before the Infosys Hall of Fame Open and the induction of wheelchair tennis icons Esther Vergeer of the Netherlands and Rick Draney of the United States, which will take place on July 21, 2023
