Delhi Man Undergoes Gall Bladder Surgery Using AI
An octogenarian man underwent a gall bladder surgery using AI-based technology in Kolkata. Initially, surgeons were cautious about the risks, but faced an unexpected and life-threatening challenge during the surgery. The patient’s liver was found to be filled with balloon-like cysts, making it difficult to locate the gallbladder safely. The surgery was abandoned to prevent complications, such as severe bleeding, to ensure the patient’s safety.
A 83-year-old patient in New Delhi underwent a gall bladder surgery using indocyanine green AI fluorescence. The surgery, performed by Dr. Arun Prasad, senior GI, Bariatric and Robotic surgeon at Apollo Hospital, successfully relieved severe abdominal pain caused by gallstone disease and a large hernia. The surgery was performed without blood loss or harm to the cysts surrounding the gallbladder, and the team also addressed the large intestinal hernia.
