Circle has rolled out a new Nanopayments system in private testnet, enabling gas-free USDC transfers as small as $0.000001. The infrastructure is designed for AI agents, machine-to-machine commerce, streaming payments, and usage-based billing.
Using Circle Paymaster and Gateway, transaction fees are paid in USDC instead of native blockchain tokens, reducing friction for automated transactions.
Gateway consolidates balances into a unified architecture that supports cross-chain transfers without traditional bridges. Circle said the system is built to support autonomous software agents that transact independently, such as AI tools and IoT devices.
While the company highlighted potential use cases across programmable commerce, it noted that the product remains in testing as it evaluates scalability, abuse prevention, and compliance safeguards before a broader rollout.
