Canara Bank Pioneers UPI-Interoperable Digital Rupee Mobile App
Canara Bank, a prominent Indian bank, has introduced the UPI interoperable digital rupee mobile application, marking a significant milestone in innovation. The Canara Digital Rupee app, part of the Reserve Bank of India’s Central Bank Digital Currency (RBI) pilot project, allows customers to complete transactions through their smartphones by scanning merchant UPI QR codes. This streamlined process enhances the overall transaction experience and enables seamless transactions using the digital currency.
The Canara Digital Rupee app enables merchants to accept payments using UPI QR codes, accelerating digital currency adoption and encouraging businesses to adopt innovative payment methods. Available for both Android and iOS users, the app ensures inclusivity and accessibility across various smartphones. As per RBI regulations, the digital currency holds the status of legal tender, reinforcing its credibility.
