Brazilian Hospital To Accept Crypto Pay
A hospital in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul has become the country’s first to accept cryptocurrency payments.
According to the Brazilian news site Livecoins, the hospital in question is the Rolante Hospital Foundation (FHR), a large general hospital in the Rolante municipality. FHR is the municipality’s oldest hospital.
FHR patients can now use cryptocurrency to pay their medical bills, pay for outpatient treatment, and purchase medication.
The municipality has a population of around 22,000 people but has already become a crypto adoption hotspot: According to the news outlet, approximately 120 merchants and service providers in the municipality accept Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptoassets as payment.
The media outlet claimed that Rolante had become the “largest crypto adoption hub in Brazil.
