Bhutan has sold more than $40 million worth of Bitcoin within a week, significantly reducing its crypto reserves. The transactions involved hundreds of BTC sold across consecutive days, contributing to a broader reduction of about 70% in holdings since 2024.
Current reserves now stand at approximately 3,770 BTC, down from a peak of 13,000. Analysts have also observed a decline in mining inflows, suggesting a possible slowdown or pause in operations.
Bhutan had previously leveraged its hydropower resources for Bitcoin mining, but the recent shift indicates a reassessment of its digital asset strategy amid changing market and economic conditions.
