Bhutan has entered into a multi-year memorandum of understanding with Cumberland DRW to advance digital asset infrastructure development in Gelephu Mindfulness City, deepening the country’s long-term, sustainability-led crypto strategy.
Under the agreement, Cumberland will support Bhutan’s Bitcoin reserve management, establish a presence in the special administrative region, and help develop local talent by deploying subject-matter experts.
The partnership aligns with Bhutan’s broader goal of building a modern digital economy rooted in environmental responsibility and mindful development.
The initiative is being led by Green Digital, a GMC-linked infrastructure company focused on renewable-energy-powered computing, sustainable mining, artificial intelligence workloads, and stablecoin frameworks.
Cumberland, the crypto arm of DRW, is one of the largest institutional liquidity providers in digital asset markets. Together, the partners aim to explore a national crypto ecosystem that balances innovation, governance, and sustainability.
