Alien Worlds Dominates The Web3 Game

By Shikha Singh

On-chain gaming activity saw a 10% drop in April with 672,000 daily UAW, yet games maintained a significant 38% share of tracked activity. Now I’ll tell you what led to this drop.. The decline in UAW numbers 22.4% since the beginning of the year can be attributed to efforts by popular games like Splinterlands and Alien Worlds to eliminate bot activity. By purging bots from their platforms, these games aim to provide a more authentic and engaging experience for their users.

Despite removing thousands of chatbot accounts, both Alien Worlds and Splinterlands maintained their position as the most played Web3 games in the sctor…

Splinterlands secured its spot as the second most played Web3 game with 68,100 dUAW.

Planet IX dominates the Polygon network as the 3rd most-played decentralized application (dapp), attracting over 30,000 dUAW in April.

Upland has proven its staying power as 4th most played web3 game, with more than 20,000 daily unique active wallets.

SecondLive leads the Binance gaming activity, as 5th most played web3 game boasting 20,139 dUAW.

Nine Chronicles has breathed new life into Planetarium and is the 6th most played web3 game.. garnering more than 16,000 dUAW.

With over 240,000 daily unique active wallets, Alien Worlds maintains its place as the most played on-chain game. It’s understandable why Alien Worlds is still a fan favourite with its engaging gameplay, intriguing tokenomics, and large cosmos to explore.

Alien Worlds is free-to-play, bypassing expensive barrier costs that has been a feature of many traditional games, and being a newbie-friendly, that has only added to its advantage.

Alien Worlds is a decentralised, non-fungible metaverse where players compete for the limited resource Trilium in a planetary worlds-based, stimulated economy. Players are rewarded with Trilium, also known as TLM or NFT packs, for mining and can compete with other users for NFTs or stake TLM to increase their earnings. The game also features a decentralised financial component, where players can make money by trading NFTs on the Atomic Hub Marketplace. Players can also run for office as Councilors on multiple planets, with more than one elected Councilor having multi-sig power over its associated Planet DAO account.

DappRadar and CoinGecko both reported that blockchain gaming has remained a significant share of all on-chain transactions. Polygon is the second-most popular chain for gaming, with Wax blockchain seeing the most activity. Immutable X and Arbitrum saw growth in April, respectively. Nigeria has overtaken China to take over second place, while Pakistan has taken third place. These data indicate an increasing interest in and involvement in Web3 gaming, highlighting the potential of these cutting-edge technologies in the gaming sector.

A multi-chain future for Web3 gaming increasingly seems likely as various blockchain networks compete to draw gaming projects to their chains.
