AI cameras went live in Kerala on Monday, and according to reports, 38,520 violations were registered in the first 12 hours of operation. While Kollam had the highest number of cases, with 4,778 challans issued against traffic violators, Malappuram had the lowest number of cases, with 545.
The following districts had infractions reported between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on June 5: Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Kannur, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Idukki, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Wayanad, Palakkad, Kasaragod, and Malappuram.
Drivers who fail to wear helmets, triple riding on two-wheelers, no seatbelt use by automobile passengers, drivers using mobile phones while driving, jumping red lights, overspeeding, and risky and illegal parking are all detected by AI cameras. The Kerala government has said that people who ride a bike with a child under the age of 12 would not be fined. However, this is subject to modification at the discretion of the Centre.
