5 Cricketers Move Delhi HC To Curb NFTs
Five Indian cricketers, along with the digital collectibles platform Rario, are said to have petitioned the Delhi High Court to restrict online fantasy sports platforms from minting and issuing Non-fungible Tokens with their names and images on them. According to a report by the Bar and Bench, Rario and five Indian players-Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik, and Shivam Mavi-filed appeals before the Division Bench against a single judge’s judgement.
The solitary judge issued an order allowing online fantasy sports companies to use the names and images of public personalities. The Delhi High Court, in its April 26 order, held that such an act is permissible under facets of the right of freedom of speech and expression under Article 19(1)(a).
