Metaverse Magic Ep-52
Transport Into Nightmarish Reality With ‘Survive Thanksgiving’
A mysterious ‘Thanksgiving-inspired’ killer terrorises and murders residents one by one; what appears to be random revenge killings is soon revealed to be part of a wider, deadly holiday plan. Will the town find the killer and survive the holidays…or will they end up as guests at his twisted holiday dinner table? You’ll find out on November 17th, when the film ‘Thanksgiving’ is released. But, why am I talking about a film here?
Sony Pictures and MeetKai have come up with an innovative idea to promote this film. They have designed a first-of-its-kind virtual gaming experience. Moreover, Survive Thanksgiving is the world’s first metaverse, designed to complement a theatrical film release.
Survive Thanksgiving, which was created on MeetKai’s metaverse platform, takes players to the next level of horror experience….a nightmare reality. Participants are brought face to face with a terrifying killer who has been terrorising residents, using infamous holiday themes via compatible VR headsets or any web browser on mobile or desktop devices. Survive Thanksgiving’s immersive setting provides three realistic 3D avatars for players to inhabit as they strive to escape…being a victim of the town’s killer, John Carver.
Users can walk the halls of Plymouth High School, engage with terrified Main Street residents, conquer challenges, and discover secret Easter eggs while exploring six classic locations featured in the film, unlocking new gamified player experiences.
Well, metaverse is being used for philanthropic activities too. Yes, In an effort to help save the world’s natural forests, Alwaleed Philanthropies, which is a Saudi Arabian NGO that initiates, supports, and collaborates on projects around the world, is hosting a virtual event on Decentraland.

Scouts from across the world, as well as the general public, have been invited to navigate through a virtual forest, learn about the repercussions of deforestation, and take part in the Metaverse’s first forest plantation event. Within the first three days, the Decentraland platform had 26,500 scouts and planted 610 trees.
